Subject: [DMANET] 4-Year Post-doc in "Measurable Combinatorics" at Warwick
Date: Mon, 14 Jan 2019 11:57:36 +0000
From: Oleg Pikhurko <O.Pikhurko at warwick.ac.uk>
To: dmanet at zpr.uni-koeln.de

We are seeking for a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to work
under supervision of Prof. Oleg Pikhurko on the project "Measurable
Combinatorics" funded by the Leverhulme Trust. This broad project
focuses on the interplay between combinatorics and other areas of pure
mathematics (descriptive set theory, group actions, measure theory,
etc), with applications going both ways.

The main directions are descriptive combinatorics (in particular,
combinatorial-type invariants of Borel graphs and graphings, and
measurable equidecompositions) and the limit theory of discrete
structure (in particular, with view of applying it to various problems
of extremal and probabilistic combinatorics). While a previous
experience in these areas is not required, an ideal candidate will have
a strong analytic background and a great interest in combinatorics. We
will also be looking for the depth of applicant's research and her/his
potential in applying algebraic, analytic, or probabilistic methods to
discrete problems.

The starting date is 1 October 2019. This is a fixed term post for 4
years. Informal enquiries can be sent to: o.pikhurko at warwick.ac.uk

The application should include the following documents: CV, a research
statement, up to three of applicant’s selected papers or pre-prints, and
between 2 to 4 letters of recommendation. All applicants should ensure
that all referees send their references by email to
MathematicsPA at warwick.ac.uk before the deadline.

The deadline for application is 19 February 2019. Applications can be
made online via this link:

https://atsv7.wcn.co.uk/search_engine/jobs.cgi?owner=5062452&ownertype=fair&jcode=1788428&vt_template=1457&adminview=1

The online system allows uploading only one file in addition to CV, so
you can just give references (arxiv or journal info) to up to 3 of your
best papers in your research statement or merge all supporting documents
into one pdf file (eg by scanning). If this does not work, then you can
email the extra documents to MathematicsPA at warwick.ac.uk (quoting the
reference no).
