(With apologies for cross-posting.)

The Department of Mathematics at North Carolina State University invites
applications for a junior tenure-track position beginning Fall 2020.
Applications from suitably qualified candidates for more senior
positions will be considered. We are seeking exceptionally
well-qualified individuals with research interests in interdisciplinary
and/or applied mathematics. Interdisciplinary candidates are expected to
be involved in cross-disciplinary collaborative research with
demonstrated potential for impact and will need to demonstrate
experience in and appreciation for mathematical research that is
actively engaged with other disciplines, such as engineering or life
sciences. For applied mathematics candidates, expertise in one or more
of the following areas: dynamical systems, approximation theory (e.g.
compressed sensing and sparse approximations), machine learning, applied
probability, numerical analysis, or optimization is of particular
interest. Information about the department is available at
https://math.sciences.ncsu.edu/.

Candidates must have a PhD in the mathematical sciences or related
areas; successful post-doctoral training; experience in, and a continued
commitment to, outstanding research and effective teaching at the
undergraduate and/or graduate levels. Inclusiveness and diversity are
critical to the success of the Department of Mathematics, the College of
Sciences and the University (https://math.sciences.ncsu.edu/about). The
selected candidate will be expected to foster an environment that is
supportive and welcoming of all students, faculty and staff.

Applications should be submitted electronically at
http://www.mathjobs.org/jobs/ncsu, and must include: • Curriculum vitae
• Statement of research • Statement of teaching philosophy • At least
three letters of recommendation

We encourage applicants to submit an optional statement that addresses
how they may have developed or anticipate developing a welcoming and
inclusive environment in their classroom and research group and
describes other diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Applications received by October 15, 2019 will be given full consideration.

employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for
employment without regard to race, color, national origin, religion,
sex, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, genetic information,
