Computational Integer Programming


The chair of operations research at RWTH Aachen University 
(www.or.rwth-aachen.de) invites applications for a full-time PhD (E13) 
or postdoc position (E13/E14) as a research and teaching assistant, to 
be filled for three years, plus a potential (and desirable) extension by 
another three years. Members of our group have backgrounds in discrete 
mathematics or theoretical computer science. Research interests span the 
full range from the foundations/theory to industry strength 
applications. We work on combinatorial and integer optimization, in 
particular decomposition methods, graph-based optimization problems, 
machine learning, algorithm engineering, and other methods-driven areas 
of operations research. Currently, we have two postdocs, five research 
assistants, and 20+ student assistants working at the chair.


You graduated in mathematics or computer science (M.Sc. or comparable) 
and you love computational integer (linear) programming and teaching.


You will join the GCG team (gcg.or.rwth-aachen.de) and conduct research 
around the mathematics and algorithmics of decompositions. We teach 
operations research to a large diversity of students (maths, CS, 
engineering, business) and a good share of your time will go into this.
