Postdoctoral Research Associate in Optimisation Algorithms,
Combinatorics and Machine Learning
(Three Year Position)

Leverhulme Centre for Functional Materials Design University of Liverpool
Salary:	£34,805 to £40,322 pa
Closes:	25th March 2020
Job Ref:	016801

Applications are invited for an ambitious scientist with a strong track
record of excellence to work within an interdisciplinary team of
researchers as part of the new Centre for Functional Materials Design
funded by the Leverhulme Trust – one of only 4 such centres funded in
the UK in this new scheme. The successful applicant's research skills
and experience will contribute to and determine the future and path of
the Centre's Research.

You will have a PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics or a relevant
discipline and excellent, transferable skills evident in the disciplines
of computational complexity, optimisation algorithms, machine learning
or crystal structure prediction. It is important to note that this role
has a broad scope and that many skills sets could be relevant rather
than recruiting to fill a narrow list of technical requirements.

The Research Themes of interest are Optimisation Algorithms,
Combinatorics and Machine Learning. We are looking for a person with a
strong background at least in one of these themes, but who would be able
and interested to contribute in other two themes.

You will work within an interdisciplinary team of researchers,
developing and implementing modern computer science methods and
algorithms to tackle optimisation and combinatorics problems related to
the design of inorganic crystalline materials. Your application should
therefore set out how your skills, experience, career ambition, and
capabilities will contribute to the success of the centre at all levels.

Please contact Professor P Spirakis email: P.Spirakis at liverpool.ac.uk or
Professor M. Rosseinsky email: m.j.rosseinsky at liverpool.ac.uk for all
enquiries.
