A post for a Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence (AI) is available in 
the Department of Computer Science, University of Liverpool. The 
appointment will be based on the academic quality or potential of the 
candidates. We are looking to appoint an academic with expertise in a 
core area of Artificial Intelligence; however, exceptional individuals 
with an excellent track record of research in other areas of Computer 
Science related to AI will also be considered.
Specific areas of expertise that we would value include, but are not 
limited to:
• AI in Law;
• Computer Vision;
• Embodied Intelligence;
• Data Science;
• Ethical AI;
• Explainable and Trusted AI;
• Human-robot Interaction;
• Natural Language Processing;
• Security and Privacy of AI;
• Symbolic AI;
• Theory of Machine Learning.
You should have a PhD in Computer Science or a relevant discipline and a 
strong research track record. You will undertake research and will 
contribute to teaching in the Department of Computer Science on our 
undergraduate or postgraduate degree programmes, which include the new 
MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

You will also be encouraged to engage with other internal and external 
collaborators through initiatives at the Faculty and the University 
level, for example, through the new University-level research theme on 
the topic Digital,
