offering a position for a full-time PhD student or postdoctoral
researcher. The position is associated with the FWO research project
"Optimization and Analytics for Stochastic and Robust Project
Scheduling", which involves the design, theoretical analysis, and
practical implementation of optimization methods for project scheduling
and similar large-scale planning problems under uncertainty.

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong background
in mathematics, computer science, operations research, or a related
field. Knowledge in combinatorial optimization (network and scheduling
algorithms, mathematical programming, ...) and programming skills are an
asset.

KU Leuven is the largest university of Belgium and ranked among the top
50 universities in the world. Leuven is a beautiful and liveable city
with a large and international student population in the heart of
Europe, only a 20min train-ride from Brussels. Our faculty is located in
the historic city center, just a 5min walk from the UNESCO World
Heritage Site "Groot Begijnhof".

We offer an employment as full-time doctoral scholar for initially one
year, renewable for up to four years after positive evaluation, or a
postdoctoral position for up to 3 years. Salary is competitive and funds
for conference travels, participation in summer schools, and other
activities are available. The tentative starting date is September 2021,
but earlier or later dates are possible, depending on the availability
of the candidate.
