Dear all,

An Associate Professor position in data sciences for optimizing
production and logistics is available at the Ecole des Mines de
Saint-Etienne, Centre Microelectronique de Provence (CMP) in Gardanne
(near Aix-en-Provence in the south of France - Bouches-du-Rhone) - UMR
CNRS 6158 LIMOS (Laboratoire d'Informatique, de Modelisation et
d'Optimisation des Systemes).

The Associate Professor will join the department of "Manufacturing
Sciences and Logistics" (departement Sciences de la Fabrication et
Logistique (SFL)). The department SFL has 36 staff members, including 8
faculty, 6 engineers and postdoctoral researchers and 22 PhD students.
The research activity of the SFL department is part of the research axis
"Decision-support Tools for Production and Services" (Outils
Decisionnels pour la Production et les Services - ODPS) of the
laboratory LIMOS.

The faculty members of the SFL department have been developing strong
research activity on two main themes for the past fifteen years. The
first theme "Manufacturing sciences and logistics for microelectronics"
is mainly concerned with microelectronics manufacturing through the
modeling, optimization and control of manufacturing at different
decision levels. The second theme "Production and transport in a digital
world" develops original models and optimization methods to face the
challenges of the digital revolution in production and transport. The
team is developing strong, long-term collaborations with several
industrial partners (STMicroelectronics, SNCF, DecisionBrain, Cityway,
SOITEC, etc.). The Associate Professor position falls within the
mentioned two themes with a focus on Industry 4.0, in particular in
microelectronics manufacturing, intelligent transport and sustainable
development.

The candidate must have a PhD in data sciences, applied statistics,
artificial intelligence or any related discipline (a French
qualification as a lecturer (qualifications aux postes de Maitres de
Conferences) is recommended, but not compulsory). Experience in the
application of data science for supply chain management would be a plus.
Knowledge of operations research and/or industrial engineering is not
required, but would be appreciated.

The recruited person will strengthen the research activities of the team
by bringing expertise in data sciences and engineering. She/He must also
be able to participate in the definition and conduct of courses in
applied statistics, artificial intelligence and computer science.

Mastery of English is indispensable. Given the international projects of
the school, international experience will be greatly appreciated.
Otherwise, an international mobility should be performed within the
first three years of the recruitment.

The recruited person must have demonstrated their research and
industrial transfer capacities (publications, conferences, participation
in industrial or cooperative projects, etc.). Academic experience in
connection with industrial projects is highly desirable.

She/He must be able to work in a team, to ensure the link and
collaboration between actors from academia and industry around common
research themes and projects.

Application files must be submitted on the RECRUITEE platform on
***April 23, 2021***
