The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science invites
applications for a Junior Professorship (m/f/d) of Salary Scale W1 NBesO in
Pattern Recognition and Probabilistic Graphical Models
starting on October 1st, 2021. The appointment will be for three years
(with the possibility of an extension for a further three years after
positive evaluation).
The professorship should cover machine learning in research and
teaching. The future professor must have an excellent scientific
background in machine learning and several of the following application
areas:
Foundations of Machine Learning
Probabilistic graphical models
Neural networks, Deep Learning
(Conditional/Markov) Random Fields
Pattern recognition in graphs
Bayesian Networks
Lectures in computer science e.g. with a topic on "probabilistic
graphical models" is mandatory. Prerequisites for the Junior
Professorship are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation and
an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience
in academic research and teaching are expected. The successful candidate
will be expected to hold selected courses in English.
General responsibilities and conditions of appointment apply, in
accordance with the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (Niedersächsisches
Hochschulgesetz - NHG). Details will be provided upon request.
Part-time employment can be arranged upon request.
