We are scouting for candidates for a Research Fellow position (Assegno 
di Ricerca) at University of Bologna.

The candidate will have to work on topics related to the integration of 
Optimization and Machine Learning (empirical modelling), with 
applications ranging from algorithm selection and configuration to 
matching user requirements with hardware resources.

Aspiring candidates are expected to have experience with Machine 
Learning (knowledge of neural networks and decision trees is mandatory) 
and Discrete Optimization (such as Mixed Integer Linear Programming or 
Constraint Programming). Familiarity with black-box optimization 
approaches is not necessary but it would be useful.

Candidates should also be willing to tackle application-focused research 
topics. A PhD title is not required, but it would be an advantage.

The contract will last 1 year with renewals being possible. The Net 
Annual Income will be between 20k€ and 23k€, depending on the candidate 
level, while the Gross Annual Income will be in the ~23k€ -- 26k€ range. 
Research activities will be in Bologna, pending feasibility given the 
evolving epidemic containment regulations.
