Call for applications for a fixed-term position (RTD-A) in Operations 
Research at the University of Salento (Lecce, Italy) – National Research 
Center on Sustainable Mobility

The University of Salento has published a comparative evaluation 
procedure for the recruitment of a fixed-term researcher (RTD-A: 
fixed-term three-year position with a full-time employment contract 
pursuant to art. 24 paragraph 3 letter a) of Law no. 240/2010):

The research will be carried out at the Department of Engineering for 
Innovation, within the activities of the National Centre for Sustainable 
Mobility – CNMS (Spoke 7 “CCAM, Connected networks and Smart 
Infrastructure”).

The researcher will work in the “Operations Research” group and the 
activity will be focused on the development of advanced planning 
algorithms for freight distribution problems using hybrid fleets 
composed of aerial and ground drones, and traditional vehicles, as well 
as the local public transportation system.

As output of the research activity, the researcher is expected to 
produce at least 3 publications in the main international journals of 
the sector, and to participate in at least 3 international conferences 
to promote the results of these activities.

Professional and Personal Requirements:

- Ph.D. in Operations Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, 
Industrial Engineering, or related fields

- Ability in implementing and validating optimization algorithms in 
C/C++/Java (or comparable programming languages)

- An interest in tackling practical and relevant research challenges

- Good oral and written English level.
