Two Postdoc positions at the University of Bremen, Germany
in Discrete Optimization, Parameterized Complexity and/or Optimization
and Uncertainty

for 1 year full-time (TV-L 13)
application deadline: April 1, 2022

Two postdoc researcher positions are available at the University of
Bremen in the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science in a joint
project headed by Nicole Megow, Daniel Schmand and Sebastian Siebertz.

The three groups' research areas embrace discrete and combinatorial
optimization, approximation algorithms, optimization under uncertainty
such as online, stochastic and robust optimization as well as
learning-augmented methods, algorithmic game theory, algorithmic graph
structure theory, parameterized complexity and logic in computer science.

The successful applicant is expected to do innovative research in the
joint project aiming at integrating learning-based methods into
algorithm theory and optimization. It is funded by a seed grant of the
research cluster Minds, Media, Machines (http://minds-media-machines.de/>
The ideal candidate holds an excellent PhD degree in mathematics,
theoretical computer science or a related area, and should have a strong
publication record in the areas of discrete optimization and algorithm
theory. A background in one or multiple of the mentioned areas is
desirable. In addition, the successful candidate is highly
self-motivated, passionate about her/his work, and has a good ability to
work both independently as well as in a team. Good communication skills
and solid English skills, both oral and in writing, are expected.
