Applications are invited for up to *4 postdoctoral fellowships* in the 
Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Waterloo, with an 
anticipated start date of September 1, 2024 (or earlier).**

The department has 30 regular faculty members, and has leading research 
programs in Scientific Computing Methods, Mathematical & Quantum 
Physics, Environmental & Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, Control & Dynamical 
Systems, and Mathematical Medicine & Biology. *Candidates should 
indicate in their cover letter the names of faculty member(s)

Up to 2 positions will be *Prestigious Postdoctoral Fellowships* awarded 
by the Faculty of Mathematics: these are two-year fellowships with a 
salary of $75,000/year and an associated research grant of $15,000/year, 
without teaching obligation.

Two additional positions are *Departmental Postdoctoral Fellowships*, 
which are one-year fellowships with a salary range of $60,000-$65,000 
and with the possibility of renewal for another year. Successful 
candidates will be responsible for teaching two one-term courses per year.

The Department of Applied Mathematics is one of four departments that, 
together with the School of Computer Science, comprise the Faculty of 
Mathematics at the University of Waterloo. With 300 faculty members, 
8,000 undergraduate students and more than 1,000 graduate students in 
mathematics and computer science, Waterloo's Faculty of Mathematics is a 
global powerhouse in research, education and innovation. Research in the 
department is enhanced by interdisciplinary and industrial 
collaborations and links to interdisciplinary institutes including the 
Waterloo Artificial Intelligence Institute, the Centre for Computational 
Mathematics, the Waterloo Climate Institute, the Water Institute, the 
Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, and the Institute for 
Quantum Computing. The department has a substantial graduate program
