Applications are invited for a new postdoctoral research position in the 
area of Stochastic Optimization, specifically on devising randomized 
algorithms for stochastic and distributionally robust optimization, 
analyze their theoretical properties, and apply them to solve problems 
arising in power systems management under uncertainty.  For details,

ISE, Post Doctoral Scholar

*Job Duties: *

The postdoctoral research scholar is expected to devise randomized 
algorithms for stochastic optimization, analyze their theoretical 
properties, and apply them to solve problems arising in power systems 
management under uncertainty. In addition, the postdoctoral research 
scholar will have opportunities to collaborate with researchers from 
Southern Methodist University, the University of Southern California, 
and the Argonne National Laboratory. Other job duties will include (i) 
active research in modeling, optimization, simulation, and computer 
implementation, (ii) manuscript development for peer-reviewed 
publications, (iii) disseminating research results at conferences and 
other events, (iv) working with graduate students and researchers as 
part of the project, and (v) assistance with additional 
sponsored-research activity.

*Qualifications:*

Successful completion of a Ph. D. (by the time of joining) in Operations 
Research, Applied Mathematics, Industrial and Systems Engineering, 
Computer Science, or other related fields. Must have experience in 
stochastic and/or discrete optimization and in coding optimization 
algorithms. Exposure to modeling for infrastructure planning, randomized 
algorithms, and their analysis will be beneficial. Candidate must have 
excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to 
communicate effectively with a wide range of constituencies.

The position is available immediately.  Applications will be reviewed 
until the position is filled. The initial appointment is for one year, 
with a possible extension for an additional year. Salary is commensurate 
with qualifications.
