The Department of Algebra of the Charles University, Prague,
Czechia, is<br>
opening a position of assistant professor specialized in
computational<br>
complexity aspects of algebra or logic, or in model theory related
to<br>
algebra.<br>
<br>
Applications are invited from candidates with a solid
international<br>
recognition and publishing activity in some of the above fields.
We expect<br>
a positive attitude towards pedagogical work, ability to integrate<br>
scientific activities, teaching and supervision of student theses,<br>
including training of doctoral students. A long-term foreign
experience is<br>
expected.<br>
<br>
We offer an initial contract for three years. A successful
candidate is<br>
expected to start the habilitation process within the duration of
the first<br>
contract. In case of successful habilitation and mutual
satisfaction, we<br>
will offer a permanent contract.<br>
<br>
The teaching load is max. 8 hours per week. The expected starting
date is<br>
September 2022, but it is negotiable.<br>
<br>
The Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University is
the leading<br>
Czech institution in mathematics. The School of Mathematics has
about 110<br>
academic positions, covering most of the major areas. We have
highly<br>
motivated and well educated students in our mathematics programs.
The<br>
Department of Algebra offers an open minded international
environment, with<br>
outstanding conditions for independent research. Currently, we
have 16<br>
permanent and 15 postdoctoral positions, about half of the
department staff<br>
is international. The department hosts a project funded by the
European<br>
Research Council on Symmetry in Computational Complexity (Libor
Barto).<br>
