HEC Liège recruits a full-time postdoctoral researcher in the
context of a<br>
research project in the field of combinatorial optimization
applied to<br>
postal services. The project is funded by bpost, the Belgian
postal company.<br>

QuantOM research center<br>
<br>
At HEC Liège, the research activities within the strategic field
"Business<br>
Analytics and Supply Chain Management" are carried out by the
members of<br>
QuantOM, the "Centre for Quantitative Methods and Operations
Management".<br>
Many researchers of QuantOM work on scientific projects supported
by public<br>
research grants or by collaborations with industrial partners.
Moreover, HEC<br>
Liège offers a broad array of courses in these areas, and
particularly in<br>
the context of its master's degree specializations in "Supply
Chain<br>
Management and Business Analytics" and in "Global Supply Chain
Management".<br>
<br>
Some of the main areas of expertise and research within QuantOM
are in<br>
transport management and transport economics, production planning
and<br>
scheduling, design and coordination of supply chains, statistics
and<br>
statistical process control, integer programming and combinatorial<br>
mathematics, business intelligence, and business analytics.<br>

Your profile<br>
<br>
You have a high proficiency in English and French to be able to
communicate<br>
efficiently both with the academic and the industrial worlds.<br>
<br>
You have a PhD in the following or related fields: applied
mathematics,<br>
quantitative methods in management, computer science, engineering
sciences.<br>
An experience in developing combinatorial optimization methods is
mandatory.<br>
<br>
You should demonstrate ability to carry out high quality research
and to<br>
publish your work in high level scientific journals. You should
also be able<br>
to make managerial recommendations based on real-world data, and
to diffuse<br>
your research findings in a managerial environment.<br>
<br>
Ideally, you have a good knowledge of:<br>
- Stochastic optimization<br>
- Vehicle routing problems<br>
- C++<br>
<br>
Contract<br>
<br>
The position will start at the soonest on April 1st, 2022, for a
duration of<br>
18 to 24 months. The postdoctoral researcher will be hired on a
research<br>
grant and therefore should comply with the following requirements:<br>
<br>
- to be in a situation of international mobility (that is, not
having stayed<br>
more than 24<br>
months in Belgium - for work or studies, etc. - over the last 3
years),<br>
- to have obtained the PhD degree less than 10 years before the
starting<br>
date of the contract.<br>
<br>
The offered position is a full-time position at HEC Liège.
However, the<br>
selected candidate may be required to work at bpost headquarters
in Brussels<br>
twice per month.<br>
