      A postdoctoral position is open at the Department of Informatics
      at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) within the Decision
      Support &amp; Operations Research group. The successful candidate
      will work on our Optimization of train crew assignment to activity
      segments project funded by the SBB Research Fund. The goal is to
      develop efficient algorithms to assign train crews to so-called
      activity segments. This step is of great importance, since it
      drives strategic decisions impacting not only overall costs, but
      also employee schedules and satisfaction, reliability in case of
      unexpected lack of staff, as well as training and hiring of
      specialized collaborators at specific locations.<br>
      <br>
      The postdoctoral position is fully funded for 1 year. Starting
      date is as soon as possible. We offer a competitive gross salary
      starting at around 80’000 CHF per year. The postdoctoral
      researcher gets the opportunity to attend international
      conferences and to travel and learn from leading experts through
      our wide network of academic and industrial collaborations.<br>
      <br>
      The candidate must:<br>
      <br>
      - have a PhD degree in Operations Research, Computer Science,
      Information Systems, Mathematics, or related domain.<br>
      <br>
      - have a strong background in applied combinatorial optimization
      and integer programming.<br>
      <br>
      - have strong programming skills<br>
      <br>
      - be able to develop and implement optimization methods for
      large-scale, real-world problems.<br>
