The Curtin Centre for Optimisation and Decision Science at Curtin
University is seeking a senior/principal research fellow to deepen
its collaborations with industry and government, foster new
demand-driven research opportunities, and mentor a growing group
of postdoctoral researchers and PhD students. This is a
research-focused position reporting to the Centre director. The
successful candidate will grow into one of the Centre's leaders
and play a major role in its future evolution.<br>
<br>
We are looking for someone with ...<br>
<br>
(1) A doctoral qualification in mathematics or a related area<br>
<br>
(2) An established record of publications in high-quality
international journals in optimisation and operations research<br>
<br>
(3) A strong theoretical background in optimisation and operations
research, particularly in advanced techniques in integer
programming and combinatorial optimisation<br>
<br>
(4) Excellent computing skills and experience working with
relevant programming languages and platforms such as Julia,
Python, and AIMMS<br>
<br>
(5) Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the
ability to explain mathematical concepts to a non-technical
audience<br>
<br>
(6) The ability to translate high-level, loosely-defined business
challenges into precise problem statements that can be tackled
using optimisation techniques<br>
<br>
(7) Experience with inter-disciplinary research, consulting,
and/or research grants<br>
<br>
(8) A strong interest in research translation and
commercialisation<br>
<br>
(9) Emerging leadership skills<br>
