      Job description:<br>
      <br>
      The &quot;phylogenetic tree&quot; model has been used by scientists for 150
      years to<br>
      describe evolutionary history.<br>
      Due to its limitations, the more powerful &quot;phylogenetic network&quot;
      model is<br>
      becoming increasingly popular.<br>
      This project will develop new tools for designing algorithms for
      phylogenetic<br>
      networks.<br>
      <br>
      The appointee will assist the project leader (Dr. Jesper Jansson
      at Kyoto<br>
      University, Japan) to complete the project.<br>
      He/She will be required to:<br>
      <br>
      (a) pursue theoretical research in phylogenetic networks, graph
      algorithms,<br>
      succinct data structures, bioinformatics, computational
      complexity, or other<br>
      related areas; and<br>
      <br>
      (b) publish research papers in international conference
      proceedings and<br>
      journals, as well as conduct presentations.<br>
