font-size: small;">The Department of Mathematics and Statistics
at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) has an
opening for a postdoctoral scholar in Applied Mathematics,
starting from September 2022. The appointment is 9 months per
year, for a duration of two years. There is the possibility of
renewal for a third year (depending on the availability of
funding). Candidates should have finished their Ph.D. in applied
mathematics (or related fields) before their appointment start
date, and show promise for a career in research and teaching. A
successful candidate will be expected to carry out research with
faculty members and teach courses in the Department of
Mathematics and Statistics, UMBC. The teaching load will be one
course per semester, so that a successful candidate has ample
time for research.</span>

mathematics will be considered, including but not limited to:
analysis and computation of partial differential equations and
applications, stochastic processes and applications in
mathematical biology and other fields, and optimization theory
and numerical optimization with applications to data science,
machine learning, or other emerging areas. A strong background
in applied and/or computational mathematics related to the
above fields is required.</span><br>
