A postdoc/senior researcher position is available in the group of<br>
<br>
Britta Peis at RWTH Aachen University
(<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.oms.rwth-aachen.de/">http://www.oms.rwth-aachen.de/</a>>The group's research focus is
on combinatorial optimization, algorithmic game theory,<br>
<br>
and discrete mathematics, in particular network optimization,
submodular functions, flows, scheduling, approximation algorithms,
linear and integer programming.<br>
<br>
The ideal candidate holds (or is expected to hold soon) an
excellent PhD degree in mathematics,<br>
theoretical computer science, or a related area, and should have a
strong<br>
publication record in the areas combinatorial optimization,
discrete mathematics, or algorithm<br>
theory. A background in some of the other above-mentioned topics,
as well as interest in problems motivated by applications in
politics, logistic, and markets, is desirable.<br>
<br>
In addition, the successful candidate is highly self-motivated,
passionate about her/his work, and has a good ability to work both
independently as well as in a team. Good communication skills<br>
and solid English skills, both oral and in writing, are expected.<br>
Teaching experience is an advantage.<br>
<br>
The position is a full-time position for 3 years, with the
possibility<br>
of extension, paid according to the Federal German Payment scale
TV-L<br>
13. The actual salary depends on academic experience, family
situation,<br>
tax classification, etc.<br>
<br>
The successful applicant is expected to conduct independent
research on<br>
topics relevant to the above-mentioned areas, to cooperate with
the<br>
group as well as external collaborators and to attract and
supervise<br>
graduate students. The position comes with teaching duties.<br>
<br>
