The Berlin Mathematics Research Center MATH+ invites applications
to head an<br>
independent Junior Research Group (JRG) in the field "Mathematics
for Data<br>
Science". The successful candidate will have a doctorate in
mathematics,<br>
computer science or related disciplines. They will have a research
program<br>
in “Mathematics of Data Science”, for example, in the fields of
imaging<br>
science, optimization, approximation theory, machine learning or
statistical<br>
learning theory. They will have a notable record of research in
the form of<br>
publications in peer-reviewed journals, awards, invited talks and
other<br>
scholarly achievements, as appropriate for their career path and
stage.<br>
<br>
The research center MATH+ provides a supporting environment to
gain<br>
international visibility and give the JRG leader a head-start in
building<br>
their own research profile and group within a large Cluster of
Excellence<br>
and the very active Berlin mathematical landscape. JRG leaders
will also be<br>
given the opportunity to gain teaching and supervision experience
at the<br>
undergraduate and graduate level.<br>
<br>
MATH+ faculty and students come from all over the world and we
offer a<br>
vibrant, multicultural, and family-oriented environment, for
example<br>
parental leave. The position is for three years initially, an
extension for<br>
another three years is possible upon a positive evaluation. The
competitive<br>
full-time salary includes health insurance.<br>

command of English; a good working knowledge of German is a plus.
The start<br>
date is negotiable, but preferably in the first quarter of 2023.<br>
