    <p class="MsoNormal"><b><span>Research Area and Environment.</span></b></p>
    <p class="MsoNormal"><span>The successful candidate will work
        directly with the CMAI faculty. Broadly, the group's activities
        lie at the interface of</span><span></span></p>
    <ul type="disc">
      <li class="MsoNormal"><span>optimization and nonsmooth/nonconvex
          analysis,</span><span></span></li>
      <li class="MsoNormal"><span>PDE-constrained optimization and
          optimal control,</span><span></span></li>
      <li class="MsoNormal"><span>numerical analysis and scientific
          computing </span><span></span></li>
      <li class="MsoNormal"><span>risk-averse and fractional models,</span><span></span></li>
      <li class="MsoNormal"><span>digital twins and data-assimilating
          models,</span><span></span></li>
      <li class="MsoNormal"><span>machine learning and neural networks
          (including operator learning and surrogates),</span><span></span></li>
      <li class="MsoNormal"><span>applications to Maxwell's equations,
          fluid dynamics, multiphysics systems, quantum and control
          problems, and autonomous systems.</span><span></span></li>
    </ul>
    <p class="MsoNormal"><span>Candidates whose research interests
        intersect with one or more of these themes are especially
        encouraged to apply.</span></p>
    <p class="MsoNormal"><span></span></p>
    <p class="MsoNormal"><b><span>Responsibilities.</span></b><span></span></p>
    <ul type="disc">
      <li class="MsoNormal"><span>Conduct independent and collaborative
          research under the mentorship of Prof. Antil.</span><span></span></li>
      <li class="MsoNormal"><span>Participate in ongoing projects in
          CMAI and help develop new directions aligned with the group's
          interests.</span><span></span></li>
      <li class="MsoNormal"><span>Contribute to joint publications,
          grant proposals, and presentations at leading conferences and
          workshops.</span><span></span></li>
      <li class="MsoNormal"><span>Interact with graduate and
          undergraduate students; opportunities exist for mentoring and
          co-supervision of student research.</span><span></span></li>
      <li class="MsoNormal"><b><span>Teaching is not required</span></b><span> for
          this position. However, if desired, the fellow may have the
          opportunity to teach courses in the Department of Mathematical
          Sciences by separate arrangement.</span><span></span></li>
    </ul>
    <p class="MsoNormal"><span></span></p>
    <p class="MsoNormal"><span>The initial appointment will be for <b>one
          year</b>, with the possibility of yearly extensions depending
        on performance and the availability of funds. The start date is
        flexible, with an anticipated start sometime in <b>2026</b>.</span><span></span></p>
