<strong><strong>We are now looking for </strong><strong>a
Research Scientist to join our Quantum Algorithms and
Software team </strong></strong>As a scientist at VTT, you
can make an impact on our customers and society. Our researchers
work closely together with industry, often in interdisciplinary
research groups. VTT has excellent research infrastructure and
internal services to support your research work.<br>
<br>
With a strong background in quantum computing, you will have an
essential role in developing and carrying out research on<span class="_4808c97a"> </span><strong>quantum error correction</strong>.
You are expected to identify and solve problems independently
and creatively, while working closely and flexibly with a team
of experts.<br>
<br>
Your focus will be on the development of error correction codes,
on designing and integrating quantum error correction
experiments to be executed on VTT quantum computers.<br>
<br>
Our team develops quantum algorithms and operates VTT
superconducting qubit quantum computers. Currently, VTT hosts
two devices with 5 and 53 qubits, and has signed a joint
development project with IQM which will deliver a 150-qubit
superconducting quantum computer in mid-2026 and a 300-qubit one
in late 2027. We are active in the development of quantum
algorithms for real-world problems, quantum error mitigation
techniques, benchmark protocols for current quantum computers,
and quantum software infrastructure.<br>

<strong><strong>Your responsibilities as a Research Scientist: </strong></strong></span></p>
<ul class="_11bd01f3 _51b31931">
<li>Developing and simulating state-of-the-art error correction
codes.</li>
<li>Design QEC experiments to be executed on VTT quantum
computers.</li>
<li>Communicating and solving the problems in tight collaboration
with others at VTT.</li>
<li>Dissemination of results via journal articles and conferences.</li>
<li>Contribute to national and international projects – as a
coordinator, work package or task leader, or project member.</li>
<li>Network with national and international quantum computing
stakeholders.</li>
<li>Ideate new research topics together with the team and the
network.</li>
<li>Prepare projects around the new topics for national and
international public funding sources, as well as company
projects.

<strong><strong>Who we are looking for:
</strong></strong>

<li>You have a M.Sc. or a Ph.D. in physics, mathematics, computer
science, or a closely related field.</li>
<li> You have experience in quantum error correction, quantum
information, or related research.</li>
<li>You have familiarity with NISQ devices and architectures,
noise models, and error mitigation techniques.</li>
<li>You have excellent communication skills in English, both
written and spoken.
