A three-year full-time postdoc position is available in the Algorithms
group at the University of Würzburg, Germany. The starting date is
August 1, 2020 (or earlier).
The position is part of a new research project on "Approximation
Algorithms for Combinatorial Optimization Problems with Packing
Constraints" funded by the DFG (German Research Foundation). The project
revolves around algorithms for variants of problems arising in
clustering, submodular optimization, network design, and geometric
optimization.

Applicants should hold a PhD in computer science, mathematics, or in a
related field. Prior research experience in algorithms is a necessity.
Experience in optimization and in particular approximation algorithms or
hardness of approximation is appreciated but not required.
The position will be within a strong, vibrant and broadly interested
Algorithms group headed by Prof. Dr. Alexander Wolff. (Besides the
above, the group focuses on graph drawing, computational geometry, and
geographical information systems.)
