Dear Colleagues,

The Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics (AMS) at Johns
Hopkins University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty
position in Optimization/Operations Research.  Preference will be given
to candidates whose research include data science and machine learning,
and those with expertise in data-driven approaches.

Outstanding candidates at the Assistant and Associate Professor levels
will be considered.  Appointment at the rank of Professor may be
considered for exceptional candidates. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in
Applied Mathematics, Operations Research or related fields, and will be
expected to establish a strong, independent, multidisciplinary, and
internationally recognized research program. Commitment to teaching
excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels is required.

There are tremendous opportunities for interactions across the
university including all of the departments in the School of Engineering
(including Computer Science), the Department of (Pure) Mathematics in
the School of Arts & Sciences, the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, the
Bloomberg School of Public Health, and the Mathematical Institute for
Data Science, as well as the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory.

All applicants should submit their application online at
apply.interfolio.com/80453. Electronic applications should include a
cover letter describing the principal expertise of the applicant, a
statement of teaching interests, a statement of research interests, a
complete resume, and a publication list. Applications at the Assistant
Professor level should also include at least three reference letters.
Applications at the Associate or Full Professor levels should not
include reference letters or names at this stage.  Applications will be
reviewed starting December 10, 2020 and will be accepted until the
position is filled.  The targeted start date for this appointment is
July 1, 2021, but some flexibility is available to meet the successful
candidate’s needs.

The Johns Hopkins University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action
employer that actively encourages interest from minorities and women and
is committed to recruiting, supporting, and fostering a diverse
community of outstanding faculty, staff, and students. All applicants
who share this goal are encouraged to apply. The Johns Hopkins
University is an EEO/AA Employer.
