The Curtin Centre for Optimisation and Decision Science at Curtin 
University is seeking a senior/principal research fellow to deepen its 
collaborations with industry and government, foster new demand-driven 
research opportunities, and mentor a growing group of postdoctoral 
researchers and PhD students. This is a research-focused position 
reporting to the Centre director. The successful candidate will grow 
into one of the Centre's leaders and play a major role in its future 
evolution.

We are looking for someone with ...

(1) A doctoral qualification in mathematics or a related area

(2) An established record of publications in high-quality international 
journals in optimisation and operations research

(3) A strong theoretical background in optimisation and operations 
research, particularly in advanced techniques in integer programming and 
combinatorial optimisation

(4) Excellent computing skills and experience working with relevant 
programming languages and platforms such as Julia, Python, and AIMMS

(5) Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability 
to explain mathematical concepts to a non-technical audience

(6) The ability to translate high-level, loosely-defined business 
challenges into precise problem statements that can be tackled using 
optimisation techniques

(7) Experience with inter-disciplinary research, consulting, and/or 
research grants

(8) A strong interest in research translation and commercialisation

(9) Emerging leadership skills
