[Job-offers-cs] Postdoc position at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in continuous optimization and machine learning

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research fellow to begin on 
July 01, 2022, or possibly sooner.  Candidates must have a Ph.D., or 
foreign degree equivalent, in applied mathematics or operations 
research, or a closely related discipline, or be a graduate student who 
will complete such a Ph.D. before taking up the position.

The research associated with the position will be in continuous 
optimization with a focus on first-order and/or distributed algorithm 
development and analysis, with applications in machine learning. The 
postdoctoral fellow will work closely with Dr. Yangyang Xu and his 
research group in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Rensselaer. 
The work will also be conducted in collaboration with researchers 
associated with various centers at Rensselaer, including the Data 
Science Research Center and the Institute for Data Exploration and 
Applications (IDEA), and with IBM researchers. The position is for two 
years with no teaching duties required. Depending on performance and 
funding availability, an extension is possible to one additional year.
