The University of Essex is advertising two Professor positions and five 
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader positions in the field of Data Science 
and Statistics (job titles 'Data Science and Statistics', 'Statistical 
Data Science' or 'Statistics'). The positions are allocated in the 
Department of Mathematical Sciences (DMS, 
https://www.essex.ac.uk/departments/mathematical-sciences and provide 
the opportunity to engage with the Institute of Analytics and Data 
Science (IADS, 
https://www.essex.ac.uk/centres-and-institutes/institute-for-analytics-and-data-science 
of the University of Essex. The vision of IADS is to use analytics and 
data science to develop lasting solutions that transform the world for 
the benefit of individuals and communities.
DMS has three research groups: Data Science, (pure and applied) 
Mathematics, and Mathematics Education. DMS offers undergraduate and 
postgraduate courses in the fields of Actuarial Science (e.g., BSc 
Finance and Mathematics), Data Science (e.g., MSc Data Science, MSc 
Optimisation and Data Analytics, and MSc Statistics) and Mathematics 
(e.g., MSc Mathematics).

In recent years the Department and the University have been very 
successful in developing cutting edge knowledge transfer partnerships 
(https://www.ktp-uk.org/case-study/the-university-of-essex-tops-uk-knowledge-transfer-partnership-tables/ 
with companies such as Profusion Ltd., and Mediterranean Shipping 
Company. Those projects have been developed in close collaboration with 
other Schools: School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering and 
Essex Business School.
