Call for interest for a fixed-term position (RTD-A) in Operations Research
at the University of Calabria (Rende, Italy). Informal queries may be

The University of Calabria is publishing a comparative evaluation procedure
for the recruitment of a fixed-term researcher (RTD-A: fixed-term
three-year position with a full-time employment contract pursuant to art.
24 paragraph 3 letter a) of Law no. 240/2010). The research will be part
the project "Future Artificial Intelligence Research - FAIR" (PE0000013
identification code), SPOKE 9: GREEN-AWARE AI, approved by the MUR with
Concession Decree no. 1555 of 11 October 2022.

Brief description of the project: The activity will be focused on the
development of advanced models, integrating of artificial intelligence
and operations research techniques for Energy Storage Management. The
primary objective of the research activity is to develop comprehensive
models for the optimization of integrated Battery Energy Storage Systems
(BESSs), to determine the most efficient operation of a BESS, while
considering different constraints and pursuing various objectives, such as
economic, environmental, and social goals. The project comprises three
primary research activities. The first one focuses on the use of AI
techniques for prediction. The second activity refers to the design of a
decision support system integrating AI and optimization models for the BESS
optimal management. The third activity refers to the design of an AI-based
model for the predictive control of a distributed BESS.

Professional and Personal Requirements:

- Ph.D. in Operations Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, Industrial
Engineering, or related fields.

- Ability in implementing and validating optimization and artificial
intelligence algorithms in Python (or comparable programming languages).

- An interest in tackling practical and relevant research challenges.

- Good oral and written English level.
