Hello all,
As you may know, the next CodeRefinery workshop starts next week:
https://coderefinery.github.io/2023-09-19-workshop/
As usual, this is the workshop for getting ready for computational research: It doesn't teach programming, but the extra tools needed to do research comfortably, without wasting time or fighting against solved problems (version control, testing, reproducibility, documentation, etc). It's also very good for your future career. It's one of our central computational scientist training courses and doesn't have an academic parallel.
The first installation help session begins tomorrow, and the course begins next week (T-Th).
As usual, the course is online. If you register and are in Finland, you will be invited to in-person watching parties/exercise sessions. You can drop by days relevant to you, see our videos (that are immediately released), and the written material is always available. We support these things for researchers also during our daily garage and can have follow-up tutorials/hackathons with your group if you request. https://scicomp.aalto.fi/help/garage/
Group leaders: All your group members should attend this course at least once - the time savings will pay you back later. We encourage people to form teams and attend together, working on their real projects. Invite us for follow-ups.
This invite can be shared with anyone in the world and you can even form teams across institutions.
- Richard on behalf of ASC
